Aistear

We started Aistear this week!  Aistear recognises the importance of play
in supporting children’s early learning and development.  Play is special for children.  It is their “work” and their way of learning about the world.
Through play, children try out new skills, explore their imagination and creativity, develop language skills and develop relationships with other people.
Our topic is Hallowe'en.

In the witches' cavern we made up spells, wrote them on our whiteboards, added the ingredients to our cauldron and stirred up some trouble!

In the construction area our builders made houses for the poor teachers who had been turned into little teddy bears by a wicked witch!

We were very busy making broomsticks and cats out of playdoh for the witches!
In the creative area we made witches'wands!
There were lots of spiders in the sand area so we counted them and made up sets of 5 spiders. We also made some yummy cakes with 5 spiders hiding inside them!
I wonder what we will be up to next week!!

Rotational Group Work

Mrs Lewis,Miss Meehan and Miss O Reilly love coming into Room 1 and working with all our wonderful little children! They visit us EVERYDAY for Rotational Maths and English Group Work Sessions.

In Maths we are working on sorting based on one attribute, copying and extending patterns in colour and shape, classifying and learning to identify the compliment of a set. In English we are concentrating on phonics, vocabulary building, listening skills and predicting at storytime and pre writing patterns!
Mr Walsh doesn't like to miss out on the fun so he visits us whenever he gets the chance!
Everyone is working very hard. Well done to all my little stars!
